About the Author:
Imogen Dean is a registered speech-language therapist. She completed her bachelor’s degree in both Australia and Hong Kong, and graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia, with first class honours. She is a 2016 recipient of the prestigious New Colombo Plan scholarship, awarded by the Australian government to high achieving students. Her thesis explored the treatment of stuttering in Mandarin Chinese, and has since been published and the findings presented internationally. Imogen has a particular interest in the development of speech pathology services in Asia.
Imogen has experience working with children and teenagers in both school and clinic settings, addressing issues related to speech production, language development, social skills, fluency, feeding, and voice. Imogen is also certified in the Hanen Centre’s ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ program, for parents of late talking children.
Imogen’s experience working with adults includes accent and intelligibility coaching for both ESL learners and actors. She also has experience in the treatment of fluency and voice disorders. Imogen has practiced in both acute and rehabilitation hospital settings, working on both communication and feeding with adults following cerebrovascular accidents or similar.
